The Arbors of Creekwood Homeowners Association, Inc.
PO Box 1110
Mansfield, Texas 76063
January 2010
Hello Arbors,
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season.
I would like to congratulate 3 and 4 Velvet Court for tying for first place in the Christmas lighting contest. Fire Station 3 judged this year and felt that they both deserved first as it was obvious they worked together to decorate their homes beautifully. Second place goes to 1508 Creekside Circle; 1 Treeside Court got third place and fourth place went to 2612 Wild Ivy Trail. A big thank you goes out to Geff Anderson for volunteering to head up and manage the contest this year.
It appears that safety and vandalism is becoming more and more of an issue in our neighborhood. I noticed yesterday that sometime Saturday night someone decided to run up into the front center flower bed with their vehicle. This has caused damage to our sprinkler system, tore up the lights and damaged the rose bush. I will take care in getting all that fixed, which will cost us even more money, but would like the person to know that I currently have part of the undercarriage to their vehicle, and will be turning it over to the police.
The annual meeting is scheduled for February 16th at 7 p.m. at the Willie Brown cafeteria. Please make sure that you are in attendance as we will have plenty to cover. As I mentioned in last month's update, please let me know if you are interested in any of the board positions.
I would like to thank the residents who sent e-mails to the the city council members. James Rudnicki has now gotten involved and has assured me that we will be getting to the bottom of this issue. There will be much more on this at the meeting.
I received an e-mail from a resident a couple of days before Christmas indicating that she had received a contract from Granite Resources. They attached a letter stating that they had met with some homeowners and wanted to lease her mineral rights. I wanted to bring this to everyone's attention so that we are still clear: we do not have our mineral rights. Please disregard this notice, it sounds as if Granite Resources didn't do their homework before sending out letters.
As always, if you have any questions don't hesitate in contacting me.

Timely Tip for January Gardeners
from Calloway’s Nursery
Your Spring Landscape
January is a good time to evaluate your gardens and start planning for the
Spring. Prepare a sketch of your landscape complete with all permanent
fixtures including the house, sidewalks, fences and trees. Keep notes of
what did well and what needs to be replaced. Remember, your landscape is a
continual work in progress!
Now is the time to prune fruit trees and grapevines. Shade trees and
evergreen shrubs can be trimmed to maintain shape and to remove damaged or
low lying branches. Do not top Crape Myrtles; only prune to remove damaged
branches. Trim summer blooming shrubs and vines to tidy their appearance.
Leave a smooth cut flush with the trunk or branch from which you pruned.
Apply pruning paint to cuts larger than a pinkie to prevent diseases and
insect infestations.
